Work Your Way Up

This is a movie review!

I think the first one on my blog!

Ryan Allis sent me his new movie to check out. I love entrepreneurs, I love to hear their war stories, their losses, their big wins, their small wins, everything about this. This movie is right up my alley.

Work Your Way Up Movie

Ryan Allis has put together a good movie that explains entrepreneurism and what it is to be an entrepreneur. He covers the mind, set and even features successful entrepreneurs who not only tells their own stories but also gives advice on how they made strategic changes. If you have never been in business you need to watch this. BEFORE you open your doors. It will give you lots of food for thought.

Sensory Based Goals Are Well Formed Goals

wayne-buckhanan1 Are your goals truly goals (rather than dreams and wants)? By looking at how the goal is stated we can quickly tell the difference. The difference between a dream or a want and a goal is that the goal has specific features that make it reachable. Well formed outcomes have several criteria: stated in positives, individually driven, sensory based, and ecological.

This article shows you how to put sensory based outcomes into your goal statements. We interact with our world through our five senses. Everything we know about the world is what we see, hear, touch, taste, and smell. This means that the only way to know whether we have reached our goal is by checking our well formed outcome against what we see/hear/touch/taste/smell. Because we use the word "feel" to mean what we do with our fingers as well as what we do with our heart you will want to make sure what you will feel is actually something you’ll sense not just an emotion.

If you have "feel respected" as part of your outcome statement you will be better served by making it clear what you can sense when feeling "respect." What will you see when you feel respected? What will you hear? Is there a particular sensation in your body? A scent? Some taste in your mouth? We can ask these same questions of each of your goals. By making them solidly sensory based we make them that much more "real" and more attainable. Remember to make your outcomes things you can see, hear, touch, taste, and/or smell to get to reach those goals!

By using our senses for setting smart goals we can reach them more quickly and easily. When you visit http://SixStepsForChange.com you’ll learn how to leverage Native American wisdom and your senses to reach your goals.

Getting Some Action

I LOVE making lists, planning and getting things done. All of us like to get things done; however we all have different ways of doing them. If you are still frustrated with achieving the goals, I am going to ask you to look at a few things.

1. Most people set goals with no deadline. All of my goals have a due date (dead line). That way I can work backwards by looking at all the steps needed to reach the goal and time them out. I figure out how long each step takes and then I know when I have to start to reach my due date.

2. Most people do not break down the goal into steps. Each goal will have 3-10 steps to get it done. Any goal that is 1 or 2 steps is a task, not a goal. You are bigger than that. Go for something fantastic! Once you break down the steps or tasks to reaching the goal, how much time will you spend on them? There are times when I completely underestimate how much time it takes to get something done. Then there are times when I have planned out too much time and I was not being efficient. We need to become more in tune with how long it takes us to do something.

3. Most people do not block out time to do it. It?s not just about making a list of tasks, but when are you going to do it? When will you have 15 minutes in your day to deal with mail?

4. Most people multi-task. Multi-tasking is not good. I know it feels good, but really, it does not work. If you want to know the reasons why, here is a good article to begin with

What tools will help you be more efficient?

I recommend 2 things:

The Action Machine: This timer will help you keep track of how long it takes to get something done and help you limit time wasters. It even comes with bonus books on how to be more efficient. I personally use it and love this thing! Click here to get more info The Action Machine:

An Accountability Partner: This is not the same as a mastermind and it?s much easier to do. It?s free and only takes up 5 minutes a day. I have one I talk to for Daily goals and one and talk to about weekly goals. The person I talk to about my weekly goals deals more with my web goals and is responsible for helping me get things like www.beontvatsea.com done. We talk about 30-45 minutes.

If you want to know how work with an accountability partner, read this blog post.

So tell me, what are you going to do this month?
