Crowdfunding for a non-profit works well. However, many non-profit organizations seem to struggle with making their goals when using crowdfunding. I wanted to share a few tips that could help any Non-profit organization reach their goals.
Have a specific thing that will happen when you reach the financial goals. Many groups have a vague and hazy goal tied to their mission statement. When a person outside of the organization looks at it, they do not have a clear understanding of how the money will be used. It feels like the money is going into some general vacume. This situation doesn’t feel good, and it does not motivate anyone to give.
People will give in an emergency situation like a family whose house has burned down because they know, they family needs housing, clothes, food and maybe even medical care. They need these things immediately. When someone gives, they know this family will eat, have a place to sleep, and some clothes to wear. That’s what they imagine will happen when they give the money.
A vague goal is:
Support the zoo! A specific goal is: build a new monkey habitat with state of the art equipment in our zoo. Now everyone who loves monkeys will be interested in seeing that happen and giving. Now the organization and focus telling people who love monkies about the project. I would be funded quicker.
Right now, there is a fundraiser for Celebrate Life Cancer Ministry. They are helping people pay their co-pays while getting treatment. Because many individuals with health insurance are not working when they get their cancer treatment, they run out of cash. That means they have to make a choice between food and medicine. They have insurance, but the extra fees for the co-pays and premiums take up a significant portion of their budgets when they are not working. Rhonda Santifer from Celebrate Life Cancer Ministry gets calls all the time asking help. She is answering the call, and you can help! Plus Rhonda got some cool friends to give you a gift when you do give. Give $2.50 a day for 30 days to make sure these families STAY on the road to wellness and check it out here: http://CelebrateLifeFundraiser.com
